In following past historical patterns of
Uranus in
Pisces, which occur roughly ever 84 years, a picture begins to emerge out of
the murky depths of the collective unconscious. Transiting
signs through the outer planets represent the opening and closing of what I
call archetypal windows. Each time a planet enters into a new sign the
window opens and all the symbolism of that particular zodiac sign is
manifest in world events. In the future I will add more research to
this.
From my research I've concluded that pandemics
both large and small are constellated in and around this symbolic combo. Here are
some synchronistic examples gleaned from history:
- During the Uranus In Pisces cycle of 663-671AD plagues ravaged
parts of Europe and
the British Isles.
- The Uranus In Pisces cycle of 1333-1341 AD
coincided with spread of The Black Death, the greatest plague to hit
mankind. Evidence suggests that it started in North West China (Mongolia) in the 1320's and was
spread through trade routes such as the Silk Road to the whole of central
Asia by 1345. By 1347 rat infested ships carried the plague to Mediterranean
ports in southern Italy. The Black Death
killed an estimated 30 million people in Europe between 1347-1352.
- During the
1835-1843 cycle chorea epidemics occurred in both Sicily and Guatemala.
- In
1837 at least 15,000 American Indians (Mandan,
Hisatsa) living along the Missouri River delta died of
Smallpox. Infected blankets given to them by traders may have been one source
for the disease.
-
The so-called Spanish Flu, a virulent influenza leading to
acute pneumonia killed estimated 20 million people worldwide in 1919.
Consider for a moment that the number of people killed in WW1 was about 10
million.
-
Among our current disease epidemics SARS began in Southern China
shortly before
Uranus entered Pisces--around 11/02 and so far has no know cure. Other
diseases on the front page include the Asian Bird Flu.
Another research theme common to
this cycle of Uranus in Pisces is the Christian archetype based on the zodiacal symbolism of the
two fishes:
- The 7 BC-1AD cycle saw the birth of Christ:
about 4 BC.
- The Roman Colosseum opened (80AD) during the
77AD--84AD cycle beginning a time of Christian prosecution.
- Just after the 328-336 cycle (by about 6 months)
the emperor Constantine received a deathbed baptism as a Christian.
- During the 412-420 cycle the Latin version of
the bible was established.
- During the 998-1006 cycle many fell into a
collective apocalypse complex certain that the world would end at midnight
on the year 1000AD.
- During the 1248-1257 cycle the 6th Crusade
(1248-1254) lead by Louis IX of France took place. Things didn't go well
and he was taken prisoner. At great expense he was ransomed from his
Egyptian captures.
- Also during this crazy period (1251) the
Pastoureaux or Shepherd's Crusade took place. Led by a mad monk named
Jacob the Messiah, a large groups of criminals dressed like monks robbed, pillaged and
murdered in the name of Christ.
- The present cycle (2003-2010) seems to coincide
with the old crusader mentality of the Christian shadow. Iraq today,
Iran tomorrow? Perhaps this cycle of Uranus will fulfill Jung's prophecy
about the true nature of the protestant devil in our own backyard. Our
current president, George W. Bush seems to fit the bill perfectly, as the
collective leader for the policy of the Christian Right. The 'lack of
boundaries' theme also connected with the sign of Pisces can be seen in
the erosion of the separation of church and state.
Also the theme of national security:
- During the 1082-1090AD cycle William the
Conqueror created what is now called the Domesday Book of England. It
contained not only details on every horse, cow, pig and hen in England,
but also comprehensive census of all landholdings.
- During this present cycle look for more laws
aimed at limiting personal freedoms in society. Particularly during the
next two and one half years with Saturn in Cancer.
Also the theme of earthquakes:
- During the last two cycles of Uranus in Pisces:
1835-1843 and 1919-1927, the country of Japan experienced major
quakes. In 1836, 7.6 magnitude quake in northern Japan killed over
28,000. In 1923, Tokyo and Yokohama were decimated by a magnitude 8.3
quake. Population deaths exceeded 130,000.
